BTCC President, Mr. Jefferson
Michaelis joined this week senior leaders at the XXV Hemispheric Congress of Latin
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CAMACOL), and joined the newly formed Council of
Bi-National Chambers of Commerce of the Americas (CBCA), where Governor Bush presided over
its official launch and inauguration. Florida is the number one trading partner with every
nation in the Western Hemisphere except Mexico. These events served to highlight the
importance of the Western Hemisphere to Florida and to underscore Floridas unique
role as Gateway to the Americas. During
the Congress, Mr. Bush mentioned that he continues to promote Miamis candidacy for
the Permanent Secretariat of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, it is exciting to see
that such well established organizations as CAMACOL are harmonizing with new ones, like
the Council of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce of the Americas, to support regional
integration and economic success.
Mr. Michaelis mentioned that he appreciated meeting
international chamber leaders, and was very pleased with the Governo's continued support
as well.
